ARTFUL PIE
If pastry is an art, then bakers and artists would seem a natural fit.
I first met artist Deb Garlick when she attended one of my cooking classes in Victoria BC. I marvelled at the breadth of her creativity, her striking photography and the playful whimsy reflected in all of her art.
Baking is my first love and I'd been dreaming of a pastry-themed project for years, but it took running into Deb at a book store to set the wheels in motion. When I suggested we team up to create a book where pastry and art intersect, Deb was all in. We took a deep dive into handcrafted pies with a shared vision—to create a cookbook as beautiful as it was practical.
Few things in life are as comforting as homemade pie, and we hoped this book inspires you to discover, or rediscover, the art of pastry.
